Good Choice! Quality Food Awards 2017 :: Judges


A Note from our Chairs 

Food is my absolute passion and after graduating with a Degree in Home Economics I have been truly blessed to work in an Industry I love for over 30 years gaining considerable knowledge and experience through a wide variety of exciting and challenging roles. Some of the great companies I have worked for include McCormick Foods, Sir John Fitzgerald Ltd, the Greencore Group, McCain Foods GB and latterly at Asda as Head of Food Innovation working with the category heads promoting the Asda Brand.  

I have always enjoyed the fast pace and variability of working in Development, creating & developing many products in a plethora of product areas encompassing - Sauces, Pickles & Chutneys, Pizza, Chips, Frozen Ready Meals, Desserts, Cereal bars and a wide variety of Herb and Spice seasoning blends. Now as a Food Consultant I’m getting even more immersed in Foodie activities offering Food Training, Bench Development, Food Tours, Inspiration & Innovation Sessions and a variety of other Food related workshops. I am now delighted to be involved with the Quality Foods Awards as Good Choice! Brand Ambassador and lending my knowledge, expertise and taste buds to what is a fantastic industry leading awards body.
As the Good Choice! arm of the Quality Food Awards as continues to grow, now in its third year, I am really looking forward to an exciting array of products for the consumer, to fit specific dietary needs, healthier alternatives or lifestyle choices. 
As we look to the trends I will be enthused to see what other interesting and innovative ingredients and flavours will come through in the Good choice arena. Will we see cauliflower or coconut, turmeric, more grains and seeds? Consumers are seeking new and different flavour combinations and are looking to the trends to inspire. I will be on the lookout for regional influences through cuisines, vibrant Mexican tacos, more use of interesting veggies, with more vegan choices perhaps, some new gluten free flours and maybe even some Poke!

Claire Nuttall - Brand Incubator

Claire is the founding Chair of judges of the Q awards Good Choice awards.  Claire Nuttall has pioneered healthier food and drink innovation over the past 20 years.  Claire has worked with trends and forecasting the future world of healthy food and drink for over 20 years too, predicting what will stick or twist over time.  She is highly passionate about helping to help create and develop solutions for busy, active people who are looking to eat better, without having to compromise on taste and convenience. Having seen so many brands and products launch and fail, she knows how consumers demand healthier foods need to be balanced with commercial realities of big companies launching effectively and successfully.  

Her business The Brand Incubator has works with healthy food and drink start ups as well as some of the biggest brands in the blue chip food and drink world.  Not only does she constantly help create innovation pipelines and defines new gaps and opportunities in this area, she also creates new brands in the health and wellness space from scratch.  Over the past couple of years have gone to market from the spark of an initial idea through to full strategy development and launch into market.  She will be sharing some of this experience and insight as she chairs the judges from across a range of background including product development, technical development, research and commercial business owners.

Over the past 2 years she has chaired some panels the Good Choice awards to help us find some of the best in class businesses and brands who excel in innovation and great products.  This year as the awards continue to grow, she will be chairing the judging panel on the first 2 days of the awards.  Helping coordinate and distill the best in class entries across a wide range of categories.
